DRIVE IN EGYPT
Warning :
Traveling by car in Egypt is not so simple. Some roads are forbidden to tourists, others are subject to authorization and others are controlled with multiple checkpoints.
We give you the card of egypt where its non recommanded to go and where you can go.
It's possible to travel on your own but it is recommended to be accompanied by a driver who speaks Arabic and knows the road.
Also, driving at night it s not recommanded at all, so many cars or tuktuk use the lights !
Red :strongly discouraged
Orange :not recommended unless there is a compelling reason
Yellow : Enhanced vigilance
Green Normal vigilance (but no green in egypt :-)
Before you leave, always check the travel information site for your home country !
Fortunately, most of the routes are safe and you can visit the most beautiful places without worry. You can also take the train between Cairo and luxor, or take the boat from luxor to assouan, go to assouan by plane....
There are many possibilities depending on your expectations and your budget
On the other hand for certain visits, it is necessary to be accompanied, for your safety.
Example: ABYDOS High Egyptian historical site and temple very beautiful to see. Located 90 km from luxor, the road is bad and alternates between highway and dirt road. Arrived at the entrance of abydos, cars carrying tourists are systematically escorted by police.
With us, our driver inform the police that we will come the day after to visit abydos and he will give his phone number and tell our nationality at every checkpoint. You are in security.
